Nd isotopic data and remanants of three compositionally diverse magmatic arcs from the 1.9 Ga Wopmay Orogen, Canada suggest involvement of the crust in the range of 2.0 to 2.4 Ga. Samples of plutonic and volcanic rocks from the arcs yield a narrow rand of initial sigma(Nd) from -1.8 to +0.3. Geochronologic and isotopic data from other Precambrian cratons are reviewed, suggesting that much of western North America is underlain by 2.0-2.4 Ga crust.
