Explanation of the nature of the X-ray emission from the transient source nova Ophiuchi (H1705-25) based on the mechanism of thermal bremsstrahlung from a thin gas layer in a stellar envelope heated by a strong shock wave in the nova outburst has been given. An analytical expression for the observed spectrum that has time-dependent intensity and spectral distribution is obtained. The calculated spectra agree well with the observed data.
