NASA/Penn State’s Aerospace Education Services Project has a number of programs and projects which will be utilized to support NASA Science Mission Directorate’s “Year of the Solar System”. The NASA/AESP project is NASA’s longest running education program, celebrating its 50th year of service to the nation’s education community in 2011. AESP services provide education support through: professional development for teachers and pre-service teachers, online education support, classroom support and NASA education materials and activities. Learn about the AESP webcast series dedicated to the “Year of the Solar System” being presented for educators throughout the year. Each month will be a different topic on Solar System science and exploration. Have the opportunity to become an active member of the AESP:NASA Educator Online Network (NEON). NEON is a professional learning community, open to K-12 teachers, STEM teachers, future elementary and STEM teachers, scientists, engineers, and other professionals who want to support STEM teachers in their important work. Be the first to be introduced and immersed in a newly formulated curriculum surrounding the NASA “Dawn” mission en route to the asteroid belt, to study two the of largest proto-planets in the solar system: Vesta and Ceres… arrival date July 2011! The curriculum will explore the link between meteorites (space rocks) found here on Earth and their origins, in asteroid belt and from sources throughout the solar system. http://neon.psu.edu/
