On the basis of observations by a narrow band spectral filter in the region 3640 - 4000 Å the mechanisms of CN production and the emission of O-O violet band at λ3883 Å in comet P/Halley are investigated. It is pointed out that the resonance fluorescence of the daughter CN molecules is the main source of the λ3883 Å emission. Some conclusions about the parent molecules are given.
