We report observations of the N2H+ J=1-0, J=2-1 and J=3-2 hyperfine lines in a set of 15 dark clouds. The observed emission was analyzed using the newly available rates for this molecule and we derive density and temperature estimates for these objects. We find a good agreement with the densities assessed through millimeter wave observations which are in general higher than the densities obtained with other molecular species such as NH3.
