Investigation of "sediment" produced by the anaerobic decomposition of
Pseudoplexaura porosa cortex in slowly running sea water yielded a
n-alkyl disulfide fraction (0.65 wt. %) shown to contain three
components: R-S-S-R, R-S-S-R', and R'-S-S-R' ( R | = n-hexadecyl, ( R |
= n-octadecyl).
