Quantum theory is reviewed in the case of mutually interacting fields in a 3-flat Robertson-Walker universe. The measurable properties of the fields are discussed, and the mathematical requirements of a scheme to an interaction and expansion law are considered. A detailed analysis is given of the added-up probability of the decay of a massive phi particle into a massless psi particle in the first order of the mutual interaction (lambda/a)phi psi sq, where a is the cosmic scale factor. The results are used to obtain a limit of the local applicability of flat spacetime results to calculations of the field cross sections and particle decay rates in different cosmological situations.
