A planetary theory of the system: the sun-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus-Neptune is constructed. The method described in Simon & Joutel (1988) is used to compute the perturbations in the form of Poisson series of only one angular variable. As an illustration, a solution of the motion of Jupiter represented with heliocentric sherical variables reckoned to the dynamical ecliptic and equinox J2000 is given. The series are truncated to 1 arcsec over 1000 yr or 10 arcsec over 6000 yr. This level of truncature ensures a precision of 6 arcsec over 2000 yr and of 36 arcsec over 12,000 yr.
