The relationship between the dark matter in the Galactic halo and the Galacitc disk is examined. It is suggested that these two types of dark matter may have the same origin. It is found that, if the dark halo was initially composed of lumps resembling present-day dwarf galaxies, some of these lumps could behave like sinking satellites and settle into the disk. It is shown that, if these two types of dark matter have the same origin, the disk dark matter would dominate the signal in proposed dark matter detection schemes.
