A review of the principal observations and theoretical investigations concerned with the structure and origins of multiple Trapezium-type star systems is presented. Consideration is given to the dynamic instability of Trapezium-type systems, the possible group origin of stars and the occurrence of Trapezium star systems among multiple galaxies. The statistics of multiple Trapezium-type stars in the Index Catalog of Multiple Binaries are given in a table.
