We report on the soft X-ray observations of the optically violent variable (OVV) quasar 3C 279, the first object of its class to be detected with the Gamma-Ray Observatory in GeV energies. We monitored 3C 279 in the winter of 1992/93 for about a month in radio to gamma -ray frequencies. The soft X-ray observations, performed at least daily with the Position-Sensitive Proportional Counter aboard ROSAT satellite, covered the 0.2 - 2 keV X-ray band. The object was substantially fainter in X-rays than during several previous observations with Ginga, but nonetheless, it is possible to determine an accurate source flux and coarse spectrum form each orbit of data. In this presentation, we compare the flux history in X-rays to that measured in other wavelengths.
