Combining calibrated HST images typically requires a number of steps -- masking bad pixels, sky subtraction, removing cosmic rays, determining offsets between exposure, and combining the frequently undersampled images with the Drizzle algorithm. "Multidrizzle" combined all of these steps into one single routine, and has in the main served HST users well. However, it was limited in its ability to handle multiple epoch observations, both because it did not fully take into account distortions and shifts of some of the instruments, and because of the way it handled user supplied position information. We have now rewritten multidrizzle so that all geometric information, including distortion information, is incorporated into the image header using the Simple Image Polynomial standard for the World Coordinate System and low-order geometric distortion information, and a FITS standard extension table for higher order terms. Additionally, the time dependent distortion of the ACS is now added to the distortion solution in the header, and user supplied rotations and shifts are handled in a more intuitive manner. The method now produces excellent results when combining multiple epochs HST images, and provides us with a robust, extensible system that will allow future enhancements including routines for mapping astrometric catalog coordinates back onto HST images.
