We present multi-spacecraft observations of chorus emissions made from the Cluster spacecraft using the Wide-Band waveform instrument. This instrument telemeters full waveform information over a band from 0-10 kHz which is ideal for the detection of chorus in the Earth's magnetosphere. The chorus emissions show times during which it is clear that the same source is being detected by more than one spacecraft. Although the sources are the same, the detected frequency bands are not; the band of frequencies detected one spacecraft can differ by more than 1 kHz from those detected on another. This suggests that the observed chorus is emitted by a relatively compact source and the propagation of these waves, which depends on frequency, does not allow access to the full range of emitted frequencies by each spacecraft. By using a simple plasmaspheric density model, we show ray tracing calculations which give an estimate of the range of source frequencies which can travel to each spacecraft. These results are then used to place constraints on source size.
