The paper deals with the problem of the motion of a gas cloud in an exponential atmosphere at a high initial velocity. The gas in the cloud and the atmosphere is treated as an ideal gas. A numerical solution to the problem is obtained, using Godunov's finite-difference scheme with a mobile grid. The aim of the analysis is to determine aerodynamic effects associated with the entry of low-density bodies into the atmosphere, which may be of interest to the hypothesis that the Tunguska catastrophe of 1908 was caused by atmospheric braking of a large low-density body.
