Faraday-effect measurements of signals emitted by the SIRIO geostationary satellite at a frequency of 136 MHz were carried out at the Alma-Ata station. Annual and diurnal variations of monthly median values of Faraday rotation and f0F2 were analyzed for 1984-1985, a period of low solar activity. The morphology of the seasonal and diurnal variations of the ionospheric electron content is compared with variations of electron density at the ionospheric maximum.
