The morphological characteristics of irgizite tektites are investigated. Irgizite particles from the Zhamanshin meteorite crater in the Northern Priaral'e region were examined on a macroscopic level by bulk measurements, visual shape classification and surface observation, and on a microscopic level by means of a polarizing microscope and a scanning electron microscope. Features indicative of irgizite growth and formation by the accretion of silicate condensates, aerosols, and molten material, include glassy globules, filamentary splashes and jets, and of surface destruction processes, including areas of shear, pits, craters, and holes, are distinguished. It is noted that the pits, craters and shear regions on tektite particles display striking similiarities with lunar regolith glass structures.
