Historically, asteroids and comets have been thought as two separate populations in the Solar System. However, in the past 20 years there has been evidence for a continuum of small bodies to exist, from the very rocky to the very icy. In the center of this spectrum are the Main-Belt Comets (MBCs, or Activated Asteroids), of which 3 have been identified (Hsieh & Jewitt, 2006). Wiegert et al. (2007) have used the Very Wide portion of the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Legacy Survey (CFHTLS) to find over 1500 asteroids in the Main-Belt. By comparing the Full Width Half Maximum (FWHM) and brightness profiles of these objects to stars of similar magnitude, and utilizing the unpaired t-test to compare the residuals with the background noise, we have determined that none show evidence for cometary activity. Using these results, we present a statistical analysis of this data set, deriving an upper limit for the number of MBCs expected.
