The formation of global texture in both two and three spatial dimensions is studied using Monte Carlo techniques. We calculate the probability of texture formation for critical windings in the range [1/2,1], finding for three dimensions average values per correlation volume in the range [0.017, 0.045], which is in good agreement with previous dynamical simulations. We discuss cosmological structures seeded by texture collapse.
