We discuss the cosmological implications of monopoles which have multiple units of the Dirac charge, are relatively light compared with the grand unified mass scale, and which do not catalyze nucleon decay. Combined with the inflationary universe scenario, though admittedly model-dependent, we find the monopole condensation can occur during the inflationary stage and these monopoles can excite the magnetic current on large spatial scales and give rise to primordial magnetic fields of an appreciable strength. We also find the present density of residual monopoles can be such that it gives the flux which is just below the bound based on the persistence of the galactic magnetic field.
