The collapse of a degenerate stellar core is studied, within tensor-scalar gravity, leading to a neutron star formation through the bounce and the formation of a shock. A new numerical technique, combining pseudo-spectral methods (for the evolution of the scalar field) and Godunov-like High Resolution Shock-Capturing schemes (for the hydrodynamical evolution) is used to integrate the equations in spherical symmetry. The resulting monopolar gravitational wave amplitudes and forms are discussed, using present constraints on the tensor-scalar theory.
