Molecular and atomic abundances in metal-rich red giant envelopes are obtained, based on the dissociation equilibrium theory. A total of 53 molecular species composed of H, C, N, O, S, Si, Fe, and Mg is considered. For the SiO molecule, the column density is estimated along with some parameters relevant for the determination of the pumping mechanism responsible for the observed maser emission. The possibility of nucleation of some atomic and molecular species is also considered.
