The authors present a 12CO (J = 1-0) map at high resolution (23arcsec) of a spiral arm region in the North-East of M31, obtained with the IRAM 30 m telescope. This map reveals the presence at 10 kpc from the center of M31 of a giant molecular cloud (GMC) of mass 1.5×106M_sun; and diameter 290 pc which has been entirely mapped, and of another cloud at a different velocity, not completely mapped. Apart from these two clouds, another velocity component is present in some positions and becomes prominent when all the spectra are added together; it is attributed to molecular clouds located in the outer warped disk of M31, at a radial distance between 16 and 20 kpc. The authors discuss the physical characteristics of these distant clouds, in connection with what is known of molecular clouds in the outer Milky Way.
