The modulus method for determining magnetic field components (useful in airborne geomagnetic measurements) is based on the linear transformation with a transformer inside ellipsoidal or spheroidal shells made of isotropic magnetic material. This vector transformer is capable of simultaneously determining both the modulus of the magnetic induction vector and its direction. In this paper, it is shown how magnetic field components in a system of coordinates prescribed by the directions of linear transformation can be determined by measurements of the moduli of the magnetic induction vectors of the transformed and measured fields.
