The modification of low-frequency waves by anisotropic cosmic rays is
examined with special reference to the conditions prevailing during the
acceleration of charged particles near shock fronts in scattering media.
It is shown that the influence of the modification remains small, as
long as the usual quasi-linear theory is expected to remain valid.
