The paper presents a description of the nonlinear self-excited oscillations of the envelopes of low-massive highly luminous stars. The oscillations are found to consist of a standing wave pulsation near the bottom of the envelope and traveling waves in the outer layers. The ratio of the standing wave frequency to the average frequency of the traveling waves increases with stellar luminosity: it is 1.7 at M(bol) = -5.5 mag, and 2.4 at M(bol) = -5.84 mag. The oscillation frequency near the photosphere is close to the critical frequency for traveling waves. FG Sge's period change observed during the last decade and the period-luminosity relation for double shell stars is found to agree when FG Sge's luminosity is M(bol) = -5.96 mag.
