Computations of neutron-star-photosphere models in the conditions typical of X-ray bursters with luminosities close to the Eddington limit are presented. It is shown that spectra of radiation flux emitted by the photosphere at luminosities not less than 0.95 L(Edd) are similar to those emitted by semiinfinite homogeneous plasmas with saturated Comptonization. Constraints are obtained on the photosphere parameters at which the layer is formed. An approach is outlined to improve the agreement between semianalytical approximations and computer simulations.
