Astrochemistry for the Milky Way is fairly well understood, but external galaxies where the physical conditions are different from those in the Milky Way may have different molecular tracers. We present results from two studies; first, calculations of the CO to H2 conversion factor for different galaxies and, second, calculations of hot core tracer abundances for the physical conditions expected in external galaxies.
