The first dust disk around a main-sequence star was detected in 1984 around Vega. Since then the number of main-sequence stars with dust disks and the number of observations with improved instruments increased and new information about the nature of the dust and the structure of the disks is available. Comparing model calculations with the observations provide insight into the formation of planets. While previous model calculations are mostly carried out for single observations at certain wavelength ranges, in this presentation we simultaneously model the spatially resolved scattering, emission and polarization data from the visible to the far infrared, focusing on the dust disks around HR4796A, Beta Pictoris, Fomalhaut, and Vega.
