The composition of Saturn's rings remains to be fully understood and is very important for establishing their origin. We present results for modeling Saturn's F ring spectra in the near-infrared. The Visual-Infrared Mapping spectrometer (VIMS) on board Cassini has observed the F ring from 1-5 micron wavelength at various phase angles; these observations are diagnostic in establishing the composition and size distribution of the ring particles. We assume the F ring is made up of icy aggregates of smaller monomers, of various sizes. Modeling its spectrum has given us constraints on the composition, porosity, and size distribution of these aggregates. We have used the Discrete Dipole Apporximation (DDA) method to model scattering from single isolated targets of various shapes, composition, monomer size, and porosity. Due to the intensive computation time requirements of the DDA method we used a simpler approach to get initial constraints on the parameter range. This simpler approach involves using the Effective Medium Theory (EMT) to calculate the effective optical constants for porous or composite particles and then using Mie theory to obtain the resultant scattering behavior. We are able to constrain the size distribution of the aggregates using the EMT-Mie theory method, and then the composition, porosity, and size of the monomers composing the aggregates using the DDA calculations.
