We present our latest results on the modeling of the unusual X-ray pulse profile of PSR J0821-4300, the compact central object (CCO) in supernova remnant Puppis A. The unique 180 degree phase reversal at 1.2 keV of the pulse profile is modeled using a pair of thermal, antipodal hot-spots on the neutron star surface characterized by blackbody temperatures that differ by a factor of 2 and areas by a factor of 20. Previous modeling allowed us to strongly constrain the hot-spot pole (xi) and the line-of-sight (psi) angles with respect to the spin axis. For a nominal radius of R = 12 km and distance D = 2.2 kpc, (xi,psi) is found to be (86,6) degrees. Here, we focus on the spectral feature apparent at 0.7 keV using 8 times more XMM-Newton data now available since the initial study. With the improved statistics we present the phase dependence of this feature and look for time variability. We discuss its origin in regards to the limit on the surface dipole magnetic field implied by the nearly imperceptible spin-down rate of the pulsar.
