A numerical investigation is made of the physical processes which shape the altitude distribution of water condensate and vapor in the midlatitude atmosphere of Mars. A distinctive feature of the approach under discussion is the taking into account of the kinetics of the condensation and evaporation of water together with the processes of turbulent diffusion and gravitational settling out of the condensate particles. The model distributions obtained are in good agreement with the results of measurements by the Mars-5, Mars-6, Viking 1, and Viking 2 spacecraft.
