Possible causes of temporal variations of almucantar position during two-hour observation periods are evaluated. Particular attention is given to the effects of these variations on time, latitude, and zenith-distance corrections. It is established that the temporal variations of the almucantar position may be caused by temporal variations of the observation environment and may also be imitated by the effect of the anomalous distribution of certain types of random and systematic errors with respect to time and horizon.
