A numerical three-dimensional global model of the ozonosphere is described. The model includes the Chapman photochemical reaction cycle, ozone loss due to reactions with nitrogen compounds, and transport by atmospheric global circulation and turbulent mixing. The ozone distribution for December 1970 is numerically modeled and the results are examined. The role of stationary planetary waves in the formation of zonal irregularities in the ozone distribution at different levels and in the total ozone field is analyzed.
