Results are presented on the diurnal variations of the electrostatic field of the thermosphere caused by diurnal variations of solar heating. A comparison is made between amplitudes and phases of temperature and wind variations associated with electrostatic-field variations and amplitudes and phases of temperature and wind variations associated with the action of heat sources without allowance for the electrostatic field.
