A method has been implemented for determining mass distributions of clusters of galaxies directly from fits to X-ray spectra. The method relies on the standard assumptions of hydrostatic equilibrium and spherical symmetry, but avoids any further model-dependent assumptions. This approach maximizes the information to be obtained from X-ray data on the distribution of gravitating mass. The method has been applied to a sample of galaxy clusters with high quality Chandra data and the results will be compared to those from more traditional approaches. The best approach to using the new mass determination model will also be discussed.
