Results are presented of calculations of total distributions of the critical-frequency and critical-height parameters at the F2-layer maximum, which were carried out using a global troposphere-ionosphere-protonosphere (TIP) numerical model described by Nambaladze et al. (1990) for the conditions on March 19, 1988, during the SUNDIAL equinoctial campaign. A comparison of the calculated results with measurements conducted for this period and with data obtained using the SMI-88 empirical model (Chasovitin et al., 1988) showed that both models agreed with data of vertical sounding performed in middle latitudes and under conditions of minimal solar activity.
