Calculations of convection velocity and magnetic effects of longitudinal currents in the polar ionosphere were carried out on the basis of analytic models of the ionospheric electric field and longitudinal Liatskii and Volland currents. The calculation results are compared with data on convection velocity obtained by Cosmos-184 and data on magnetic effects of longitudinal currents obtained by the Triad and ISIS-2 satellites. Areas of agreement and disagreement between the theoretical and experimental results are indicated, and the further applicability of the proposed models is considered.
