The author presents an algorithm which allows a completely objective determination of all the parameters for line profile variations in a non-radially oscillating star. The method is applicable when the projected rotational velocity is considerably larger than the pulsational velocity. The first few moments of the profile are used to compute a criterion which is a function of the spherical harmonic order and angle of inclination. The most likely spherical harmonic order and angle of inclination is found when the criterion reaches a minimum at which point least-squares estimates and confidence intervals for the remaining pulsational parameters can be obtained.
