RFI can be a problem for active (i.e. transmitting) radio services, as well as for passive, receive-only services. Methods and techniques are being developed to suppress RFI or mitigate its effects on the victim service. The range of technical and operational measures that can be taken is very large. This paper outlines recent history as it affects the Radio Astronomy Service.
