The atomic clock laboratory has embarked on the construction of a high performance and compact optically pumped resonator known as Cs4, which meets the needs of those using clocks carried in terrestrial or space vehicles. The performance of the Cs4 clock compares well with that of magnetic deflection clocks and its volume is no more than 2 litres (instead of 8).
