In models with large extra dimensions, the interactions of ultra high energy particles can create mini black holes; this happens when ultra high energy cosmic rays interact with the nucleons of the Earth's atmosphere. These mini black holes then decay in the atmosphere and produce characteristic air showers. In this work we compare the air showers from black holes decay with those of the standard model and discuss a possible criteria allowing the distinction between them.
