Of the approximately 20 spin-powered pulsars in the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, none have spin periods less than 15 ms. Here, we present the results of a high sensitivity search for millisecond pulsars in the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). Using the Parkes radio telescope in Parkes, Australia, we probe the center of the SMC with a high time resolution backend to allow for greater sensitivity to millisecond pulsars and giant pulses. In addition, we present the results of computer simulations that allow us to model the underlying pulsar population of both the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds. Our simulations are able to accurately reproduce survey results from previous Magellanic Cloud surveys, and provide a valuable tool for predicting yields of future surveys.
