The millimeter-wave radio-occultation probing of the atmosphere using two satellites is discussed. Attention is given to the absorption of radio waves in the atmosphere on a two-satellite path as a function of wavelength and time of year. Signal attenuation in the absorption lines of water vapor and oxygen is investigated. It is shown that this millimeter-wave technique can be used to determine the vertical distribution of moisture, density and cloudiness in the atmosphere.
