We present single dish and interferometric observations of the gas and dust in the Serpens Molecular Core region, focusing on the northwestern condensation and the two sources, S68FIRS1 and S68N. CS J=2-1, C(34) S J=2-1, CS J=5-4, and CS J=7-6 observations are used to probe the gas density structure in the region while continuum observations from lambda =1.3mm to lambda = 3.5cm are used to study the embedded objects and the overall distribution of dust. CO J=1-0 observations are used to trace the presence and location of high velocity gas. SiO J=2-1 emission is used to study the behavior of this molecule as a putative tracer of shock interactions as well as to begin a portrait of the chemical state of the the star forming gas; other molecular species have also been 'surveyed' in the region to help complete this portrait. Comparison of the distributions of gas and dust addresses the question of molecular depletions seen in other star forming regions.
