We present 3.6-8 micron observations of the Andromeda galaxy, M31, obtained with the Infrared Array Camera (IRAC) on board the Spitzer Space Telescope. The image mosaics cover areas of approximately 3.7 x 1.6 deg and include the M31 satellite galaxies M32 and NGC 205. The appearance of the galaxy varies dramatically in the different mid-infrared bands, from the smooth bulge and disk of the old stellar population seen at 3.6 um to the well-known `10 kpc ring' which dominates the 8um image. We compare mid-infrared surface brightness profiles to those measured at other wavelengths and discuss the implications for the presence of a bar in M31. We also discuss the morphology of the central region and the nucleus as seen at mid-infrared wavelengths. This work is based on observations made with the Spitzer Space Telescope, which is operated by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology under a contract with NASA. Support for this work was provided by NASA.
