Energy spectra of electrons and ions were measured in an experiment involving the microwave heating of the plasma in the Jupiter-1A trap. It is shown that the effective heating of the electrons (to an energy of 1.2 keV) occurs due to cyclotron absorption of microwave power under specified conditions. The ion heating is due to ion acceleration in the electron space charge field under the condition that the ion spatial distribution is completely determined by the density of noncompensated electron charge and is not related to the Debye radius of the plasma.
