Inspections of Schmidt telescope IIIa-J emulsion plates show many of
these plates to be affected by microspot blemishes. Tests suggest
environmental and processing causes. Contrary to manufacturers
recommendations, the introduction of iodide into the processing line may
be beneficial rather than detrimental to spot formation.
