We have tested a number of methods to better determine the periodicity of RV Tauri Stars. These objects are pulsating yellow supergiants whose light curve has alternating deep and shallow minima. We used data from the AAVSO database to study R Sct, Z UMa, SX Her, AC Her, U Mon, RV Tau, SU Gem, TX Per, and V Vul. Methods of period determination involved in the study included Visual Inspection, Manual Phasing, the Phase Dispersion Method (PDM), Weighted Wavelet Z Method (WWZ), and the Fourier analysis tools within the AAVSO's TS12 program. The WWZ and TS12 methods proved the most promising for our future studies.
Support for this work was provided by the NSF PAARE program to South Carolina State University under award AST-0750814.
