A method is described for efficiently obtaining numerical solutions to the radiation-coupled shock layer equations that govern the heating events of hypervelocity entry into outer planet atmospheres. Using a detailed radiation, model differencing and coupling procedures are developed which match the flowfield procedures to the requirements of the radiation model. Sample solutions are described for carbonaceous and reflecting heatshields in the Jovian and Saturn entry environments.
