Experimental data on ionospheric and meteorological parameters for the Siberian and Central Asian USSR regions are used as a basis for a study regarding the meteorological effects in variations of ionospheric parameters. It is found that the experimental evidence regarding stratosphere-ionosphere coupling agrees well with the concept of an extension of a planetary-scale fluctuation to an altitude of about 100 km. This extension takes place either practically without time delay or with a delay of about one day. The meteorological nature of the winter anomaly of absorption is also confirmed. Variations of aeronomic characteristics in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere are a consequence of dynamical variations in the stratosphere.
